Scholarships

Upsilon Alpha Omega, along with Gwinnett Pearls of Service, offers a variety of scholarships to students to further their educational opportunities. It is the chapter’s goal to promote post-secondary educational and community organization endeavors. Thus far, we have awarded over $995,500 in scholarships to students attending college.

​​I. Scholarship

Beauty P. Baldwin Scholarship

This scholarship was named in honor of one of our chartering members, Dr. Beauty P. Baldwin. The deadline to apply is March 1, 2024.

​​II. Scholarship

Debutante Cotillion Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded to participants in the Upsilon Alpha Omega Debutante Cotillion Program. The scholarship is awarded in even years. Please view our Debutante Cotillion page for further information regarding our Debutante Cotillion Season. Juniors and Seniors will be accepted into this program in the Fall of 2023, awarding scholarships in the Spring, 2024.

III. Scholarship

McGruder-Smith Undergraduate Scholarship

The McGruder-Smith Undergraduate Scholarship, named after two UAO Charter Members who have devoted their lives to educating students, is offered to undergraduate Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated members at Oglethorpe University. The next opportunity for this scholarship is Spring, 2024.

IV. Scholarship

Theresa Dove-Waters Scholarship

The Theresa Dove-Waters book scholarship is offered to Education majors at the University of North Georgia - Gainesville Campus. Applications for the Theresa Dove-Waters Scholarship must be submitted to the Director of the Office for Diversity Initiatives and Intercultural Relations at the University of North Georgia - Gainesville Campus. Please verify the deadline with the University’s Office. The next opportunity for this scholarship is Spring, 2024.

V. Scholarship

Mary Robinson HBCU Scholarship

Upsilon Alpha Omega offers scholarships to high school seniors to further their education opportunities. It is the chapter’s goal to aggressively promote post-secondary educational endeavors. The deadline to apply for this scholarship is March 1, 2024.

VI. Scholarship

Alpha Kappa Alpha Educational Advancement Foundation

Each year, UAO contributes to EAF to assist this foundation in promoting lifelong learning. For more information regarding these opportunities, please visit the EAF website directly, at www.akaeaf.org.

Through EAF, UAO offers a scholarship to college students at Savannah State University. This scholarship is named in honor of one of our chartering members, Dr. Beauty P. Baldwin. The next opportunity for this scholarship is Spring, 2024.

VII. Scholarship

Nancy Warr-Bayonne Scholarship

Nancy Warr-Bayonne graduated from the University of Georgia with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Journalism and earned a Masters in Business Administration from the Executive MBA program at Kennesaw State University. This scholarship is awarded to an African American student matriculating in the school of Journalism at the University of Georgia.

UAO Impact Scholarship

This scholarship is renewable for 4 years of college.
