Upsilon Alpha Omega Chapter Establishes Non-Profit:
Upsilon Alpha Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated, the first African-American Greek letter sorority in Gwinnett County has established The Gwinnett Pearls of Service 501(c) (3) Foundation.
Chapter members selected the name, The Gwinnett Pearls of Service Foundation, as it describes the organization's purpose. Further, chapter members find the name reflective of their passion to serve Gwinnett County
“Our programs are our highest priority,” said Geri B. Gonzalez, President, Upsilon Alpha Omega Chapter. “We have been called to serve the greater good of our community. The establishment of the Gwinnett Pearls of Service Foundation will afford us the opportunity to serve in a manner that is economically viable and AKA-nomics-focused.”
Gwinnett Pearls of Service Foundation board members include, President, Janice McGruder, Vice-President, Felita Williams, Secretary, Kathy Jackson, Treasurer, Nancy Warr-Bayonne, Sarah Lewis, and Geri. B. Gonzalez. |

sponsored the inaugural
Little Miss AKA Pageant May 19, 2007
This event served as an outstanding opportunity for young girls age 7-10 to participate in several months of cultural and educational activities.
The Little Miss AKA Pageant was the first of its kind to be held in Gwinnett County. This fundraiser has assisted Upsilon Alpha Omega chapter in awarding scholarships to deserving high school seniors in our community.
